Pipedrive WhatsApp Integration: Native Beta vs Apps (2026)
What Pipedrive's native WhatsApp beta does, what it does not, who it fits, and what a Marketplace app like WASync adds. Facts from Pipedrive's help center, as of October 2026.

Pipedrive now has a WhatsApp integration of its own. It is in beta, it is included on the Growth plan and above, and it covers the basics: a WhatsApp tab in the Sales Inbox and on deals, persons, leads and projects. If you run Pipedrive and sell on WhatsApp, the question is simple. Is the native beta enough, or do you still need an app from the Marketplace?
This article answers that with facts from Pipedrive's public help center, as of October 2026. The native feature is in beta. Details can change. Check the source links at the end before you decide.
What the native beta does
"WhatsApp Business by Pipedrive" connects a number on Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform (the Cloud API) to your account. You enable it under Settings, in the Beta program. What you get:
- A WhatsApp tab in the Sales Inbox, and a WhatsApp tab on deals, persons, leads and projects.
- Conversations linked to records by phone number, automatically, up to 50 conversations per number per record.
- Free-text replies inside the 24-hour window, approved templates outside it.
- Templates created inside Pipedrive: a text body and an optional text header. You fill in the variables by hand when you send. Meta approval takes up to 48 hours.
- Media in and out, reactions, delivery and read status, and up to three scheduled messages per conversation.
- Coexistence with the WhatsApp Business app, with a one-time history import: 180 days of text and 14 days of media.
- Up to 50 WhatsApp Business Accounts per company. Each user can connect one number.
- Notifications for conversations linked to a deal you own or follow.
There is no extra charge from Pipedrive. Meta bills the messages separately, at its own conversation rates.
What it does not do, as documented
The limits matter as much as the features. From the same help pages:
- Lite plan. Not available on Lite ($14 per seat per month). You need Growth ($39 per seat per month, billed annually) or higher.
- Regular WhatsApp numbers. Business Platform (Cloud API) only. A number linked by QR code, the way WhatsApp Web works, is not supported.
- One number per user. Each user can connect one number. One number can be used by several users.
- Templates with media or buttons. Text body and text header only.
- Sending from Automations. Listed as "available soon", not live.
- API, webhooks, reports, mobile. Not documented in the public help center.
Bots, AI replies, broadcasts, groups, calls and multi-agent routing are not documented either. Some third-party tools state the native beta lacks them. Treat that as unconfirmed until Pipedrive publishes it.
Who the native beta fits
Honest answer: a lot of small teams. If you are on Growth or higher, you run one number on the Business Platform, each rep needs one number, and you reply by hand, the native beta covers you. It costs nothing on top of your plan, and it lives in the Sales Inbox you already use.
Where it stops fitting is predictable. You are on Lite. One person needs to work on several numbers. You want to keep the WhatsApp number you already use, linked by QR, instead of moving it to the Business Platform. You want inbound messages to create leads with the right owner, without a human doing it. Or you cannot build a sales process on a beta that may change.
What an app like WASync adds
WASync for Pipedrive is a Marketplace app. It works on any Pipedrive plan, including Lite, because it does not depend on a plan-gated feature. The differences, point by point:
- Two number types. Connect the WhatsApp number you already use by QR code in about a minute, or a number on the official Business API with embedded signup. Both run side by side in the same account.
- Per-number licensing. Licences are per connected number, not per seat. Several numbers per account. The whole team works on the same number, and one person can work on several numbers, from the panel on Deals and Persons, the floating inbox or the full-page chat.
- Inbound rules. A new number writes you. WASync creates the Person and a Lead, or a Deal in the pipeline and stage you pick, assigns the owner and links the conversation. That is the automation most sales teams need first.
- History as Notes. Conversations are mirrored as Notes on the Person and the open Lead or Deal, with an "Open chat" link. Managers see the story without asking.
- Templates on Business API numbers. Create, submit and track Meta templates from Settings, and manage your business username.
- Account health. On the Business API, WASync watches your Meta account and warns you about billing or quality issues before they cost you messages.
Price: $19 per month per QR number, $29 per month per Business API number. Every number starts with a 7-day free trial, no card. Meta's conversation fees apply to Business API numbers, as with the native beta. QR numbers have no per-message fee.
Decision checklist
Answer these six questions. More than two "yes" answers point to an app.
- Are you on the Lite plan?
- Do you want to keep your current WhatsApp number without moving it to the Business Platform?
- Do you want conversations without Meta's per-message fees (possible on a QR number)?
- Do you need more than one number per user, or numbers that are not tied to a seat?
- Should inbound messages create Persons and Leads or Deals automatically, with an owner?
- Do you need something stable today, not a beta?
If every answer is "no", try the native beta first. It is free with your plan, and you can switch later. If you answered "yes" to the Lite question alone, the native beta is not an option, and a Marketplace app is the only route.
Try both, then decide
The cheapest way to decide is to test. Enable the beta in Pipedrive's Beta program on a Growth plan, and install WASync from the Marketplace with a 7-day trial on any plan. Run a real week of conversations through each. The one your team still opens on Friday is the answer.

Frequently asked questions
Is Pipedrive's native WhatsApp integration free? Pipedrive adds no charge for it on the Growth plan and higher. It is not available on Lite. Meta bills the messages separately at its conversation rates. The feature is in beta as of October 2026 and may change.
Can I use my existing WhatsApp number with Pipedrive's native integration? The native beta connects numbers on Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform (Cloud API). With coexistence you can bring a number from the WhatsApp Business app and import history once (180 days of text, 14 days of media). A regular WhatsApp number linked by QR code, the way WhatsApp Web works, is not supported. WASync connects QR numbers as well as Business API numbers.
Can several people share one WhatsApp number in Pipedrive? Yes, in both. In the native beta one number can be used by several users; each user can have one number. In WASync licences are per number, not per seat; the whole team works on the same number, and one person can work on several numbers.
Does Pipedrive's WhatsApp integration work on the Lite plan? No. The native beta needs Growth ($39 per seat per month, billed annually) or higher. WASync installs from the Pipedrive Marketplace and works on any plan, including Lite, at $19 per month per QR number or $29 per month per Business API number.
