What is the Bitrix24 website widget?

The Bitrix24 website widget is a small piece of JavaScript you paste on your website. It shows a floating button that lets visitors reach you through live chat, a CRM form, a callback request, and messengers such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and Viber. Every conversation is saved in Bitrix24 Open Lines and the CRM, so nothing is lost.

The widget pulls its channels from the Open Channels (Open Lines) connected to it. That detail matters: a WhatsApp number only shows up in the widget when it is attached to an Open Line as a properly configured connector.

Can you add a WhatsApp button to the Bitrix24 website widget?

Yes — and there are two routes:

  1. Bitrix24 "Instant WhatsApp" — the native option. You add a number manually in the Contact Center and it generates a click-to-chat link for the widget.
  2. An Open Lines connector like WASync — your existing WhatsApp number (connected by QR or the official WhatsApp Business API) is registered as a connector, appears in the widget, and routes replies back into Bitrix24 through your own WhatsApp session.

How to add WhatsApp to your Bitrix24 website widget (step by step)

  1. Connect your number in WASync — scan the QR code with your phone, or connect via the official WhatsApp Business API.
  2. Let WASync link it to an Open Line — on connect, WASync attaches the number to a Bitrix24 Open Line and registers it as a click-to-chat connector (with the wa.me link and WhatsApp icon) automatically.
  3. Open the website widget settings — in Bitrix24 go to Contact Center → Website widget and edit your widget (or add a new one).
  4. Tick the WhatsApp channel — under your Open Line's channels connected, enable the WhatsApp channel so it appears in the widget.
  5. Embed the widget — copy the widget's JavaScript code onto your website, or switch it on through Sites and stores.
  6. Test it — click the WhatsApp button. It opens wa.me to your number; your reply and the visitor's message appear in Bitrix24 Open Lines and on the lead or deal.

Why is the WhatsApp channel blank or "not working" in the widget?

This is the most common complaint — the WhatsApp channel is connected in the Contact Center, but in the widget it shows as a blank chip, a plain green circle with no logo, or it doesn't appear at all. Two things cause it:

  • No public click-to-chat link. Bitrix lists a connector in the widget only when it carries a public wa.me link. If the connector points at an internal handler instead, the channel can be ticked but never renders a usable button.
  • A broken icon. The connector icon has to be supplied as a proper data-URI SVG. A raw image or a missing file makes Bitrix fall back to a featureless colored circle.
